Course outline:

3 hrs per week only (mistake in UK schedule book of 1-3 hrs)
We will try to find time once a week to meet for a 3 hr block of time.
Maybe late afternoon or eve.
We will try to work a time in for all students that signed up but we might not be able to satisfy everyone's time window.

Course content: Cover the book from cover to cover. 22 chapters, 722 pages not counting the references and index.
Lectures, discussion over chapters, Home work problems, exams
All material based in the text. Outside sources maybe needed such as your old Math book and a Physics book for units and conversions as well as general principles.

Grade:
30 % HW
20 % class discussion/ participation on chapters
50% 2 exams (each 25%) One midterm, one final (comprehensive)

HW will be required each week and some weeks it might burn up your weekend.

week 1: Assignment #1: Read Chapters 1 & 2 (pages 0-60). Done by Jan 18, 2006.

HW assignment #1 [PDF1] DUE Jan 25th.

 

HW assignment #2 [PDF2] DUE Feb 1st. (UP to question #7)

For Feb 1st- have read chapter 3.

For Feb 8th- have read Chapter 4 think about reading 5 (complete questions left over - #7 to 10 from last week)

For Feb 15- read chapters 5 & 6 & HW set [PDFHW4]

For Feb 22- read chapters 6 &7 &HW set [PDF HW5]

For March 8 -read chapters 10 and 11 & HW set [MS WORD #6]

For March 22-read chapters 11 and 12 & HW set [PDF #7] & hand back corrected Exam #1.

For March 29-read chapters 13 (not covering in class) and 14 & HW set [PDF#8]

For March 29- read chapter 14 HW set [MSword file#9]. HW due in 2 weeks

For April 5- No class but read Chapter 15 and then you can do HW problems 5-8 on MS word file #9.

For April 12 -Read Chapter 18-19 [MS word #10]. --We will cover a lot this day in class.

For April 19 chapter 20 (last HW set #11). (pass out Final Exam)

For April 26 EXAM #2 Final -Turn in HW sets. (don't have to have class-just hand in last HW set by noon)
