Russian Studies at UK

The program in Russian at the University of Kentucky provides students with the opportunity to become acquainted with the culture, language, literature, politics, history, and religion of the Russian people from antiquity to the present. Students can complete a major or minor in Russian with a selection of courses offered in the following departments: Russian and Eastern Studies, History, Geography, Political Science, Sociology and Economics. Courses include: Russian language, Russian Culture, Russian History to 1825 and since 1825, Russian Folklore, Nineteenth Century Russian Literature, Modern Russian Literature, Government and Politics of the Soviet Union, Foreign Policy, Comparative Sociology, Geography of the former Soviet Union, and Comparative Economic Systems. The program also organizes cultural events related to Russia and Eastern Europe on campus and in the community.
